i know before i start i should just shut up but no can do. What are you thinking? There are established Tournaments on WGC. There are Tournaments that host Good #s of Players. If a host aint getting enough players in the time Slot they in. Have them Move their time Slots NOT the established Tournaments. If it aint broke dont try to make it better. i really see this as unfair. You have made so many rules & changes that im totally tired of tring to keep up. As for the Players we have a schedule. If there is a Slot that needs Hosting just let Hosting Teams know. Host will jump at it. Dont MAKE us change. All you will suceed in doing is losing Good Tournaments, Awesome Host & Players. I as most Host have given of My time, WHEN i got the time. So let me get this Straight you are Telling US (not asking or Voting On) that we can no longer Host when we have the TIME or have made the TIME but When Players & other Host want us to. I have arranged my life around my Hosting schedule. I love to Host it's a Hoot. (that means fun, entertaining) I have supported WGC in evey way possible. Finaces, Time, Physcially (sitting in a chair up to 6 hours) Mental (trying to click the right winner of Match) lol. There has to be another solution. Find out when Tournaments are needed & let us know. If their are not Host available have a Training For Tournament Times Needed. Please don't take away from the Hardworking Underpaid Hosties there time slots. Ask us.... try something....PLEASE
*FlowerChick COME ON PEOPLE NOW SMILE ON YOUR BROTHERS EVEYBODY GET TOGEATHER GOING LOVE ONE ANOTHER NOW
Some very good comments made above and i think we can see that it is being said all ready by hosts from 4 of the 7/8 bg groups that host at wgc.
So why change something without talking to us all first, cause had you spoke to us you would know that this is not the solution!! I dont know if all were spoke to or just some, personally i was and gave my opinion on the subject and that was that 2 hour dif in slots is a no go and will not work noooooooooo wayyyyyyyyyyy!
I do agree that something needs to be done in regards to us all working as a team some hosts do not consider what slots are already on the tt and what formats before they selfishly add theirs. If careful planning is made then the players could play all their favourite formats in all rooms instead of having to make a choice cause slots are put on same time to kill a already established slot.
But again this 2 hour rule is going no where to rectify this problem!! A chat in a few hosts ears is all that is needed about how to be part of a big team!!!!
I was going to wait until I was in the right frame of mind to post an opinion. But God knows if that will ever happen. Someone needs to use a sponge sword and beat Wacky good. Reducing the number of tours will NOT increase the number of players. The Site needs to look at all the numbers since it started. IE Staff numbers, Host numbers and player numbers. I really don't believe we have lost players to other sites, and IF we have then the numbers are very few. This is an AMAZING site with great Groups and Games. The PLayers LOVE it here. That shows in spirit of each one of them coming into the rooms or sticking in a certain room to play.
We ( Groups ) have actually lost a small number to the Staff positions. More and more ppl are joining the ranks of the WGC Staff, host, support @web where ever they can find a place to join. I'm not being critical of this, I think its great and definitely needed in order to run the site. BUT those ppl who join the staff of WGC have less and less time to play in tours because of other commitments.
Theres also the problem of Vista. The fact that WGC is NOT compatiable with vista is a problem for bringing in new players. If they log onto the site, get thier nic then try to access a room THEY CANT. Nor can they seek the support needed to get help. MAKE WGC VISTA Compatiable.
Another problem we are suffering as Groups isn't the lack of players but the OVER SCHEDULING of tours during already established time slots. Why allow a 4th or 5th tourny to be added to the schedule where 3 or 4 are already on for that particular time slot.
Allow this 2 hour change in time slot and you won't have to worry about no players because you will LOSE hosts. Someone has failed to realize that WE host because we like it, we host because we love the fun and joking in the room, We don't host to have competitive numbers. I don't care if I have 2 players or 22 I will run my tourny just the same. The other thing that NEEDS to be considered is the fact that WE GIVE OUR FREE TIME to host. Most of us that host have other commitments, families, job, whatever the case might be. We have choosen slots that are adaptable to our enviroment. FORCING us to adapt to a 2 hour time slot will only FORCE Hosts to STOP Completely!!!!!!!!! I personally have only 1 obligation at home, my mom who is disabled. I am under her beck and call 24/7 but I also have the freedom to host the specific times I have chosen myself. Forcing me to change those very same slots by 1 hour or so very well may force me to stop hosting altogether. HOW MANY OTHER HOSTS ARE IN THIS VERY SAME BOAT????
Next time Wacky DO your work to the fulliest EXTENT!! Read all the info because making decisions based on 1 or 2 rooms lacking players. AND have the decency to get the opinions of atleast the Room Directors, Because without the GROUPS in BG we have NOTHING.
I Host with K9 Gammon AND K9 Crib! Our group is figthing to BRING more players into another area of WGC! Changing these times in Gammon will MOST definitely affect us hosting tours over there. So in the end who fails??? Us as Hosts because we have to DROP tours in 1 area, the players because of these dropped tours or WGC because a group cannot physically manage 2 rooms under 2 different games because of these wacky new rules?? Answer me that and you WIN the prize for the day!!
This is exciting to see all the hosts speak up, and thank you for doing so. I just want wacky to know I am not a host, and probably more upset then the hosts. I was told I was to dang wacked to host, sigh. Variety is the spice of life. Take variety away and people ie players will find the spice elsewhere. We all play where we want, when we want, because it fits our schedule. I think that if you deal with each room in tourmoil individually, and give them suggestions, then maybe that will work better then punishing the whole site cause one person is crying???????? I understand that this is a backgammon only issue, but trust me, if it happens in backgammon, it will eventually happen everywhere else, just a matter of time. Those that love this site and what it offers will stay. If we stop offering they will stop coming. So please wacky, dont delete the emails comin your way, please truly read them, and realize that this is a player/host united front. All we are asking, is give peace a chance, lol. I promise if you rescind this silly rule, I will personally stop emailing incessantly.
I'm not one to voice an opinion but this time I couldn't keep quite. I find it very disheartening that yet again the players and hosts are restricted in not only how they play but the time we play. As WGC strongly promotes the site is for players having fun. For this reason I give my service and to ensure this occurs. However, given peoples difficulties in work, life and play balance adding more restrictions will only hinder this. Many players and host are available certain times of the day in lieu of the above, and not necessarily in two hour intervals. Seeing the reduction in player numbers I feel we should be more flexible and more accommodating to people’s hours of availability. Giving the players more options is by far the better then reducing their.
Reducing the number of players on teams has not increased the number of teams playing in a tourney. It only has increased the number of changes a host has to make in a night.
As more and more players are leaving to play at other sites it’s more imperative now then ever that we make efforts be more flexible in order to attract more players. We want to be sensitised and accommodating to the players. Please reconsider this decision.

I came here after the zone shut down tournaments .... and found much to my amazement that WGC was much better than the zone (from a players point of view)... I liked the idea that this was a growing site ... so why stunt the growth by limiting what the players want?
For those of you who don't know, I have been a player for years, and I hosted on the Zone in a few rooms. I got out of hosting primarily becuase of the political BS. But I have always kept playing.
I have met many people on the zone and now WGC, including my fiance. I feel a great connection to this site and to the people in it. That being said, if this new rule is enforced, I will be leaving this site permanently.
IRL I am a business man. Those of you running rooms might do well to think of your rooms as individual businesses. Your product is the service you provide to ypur clients. Your clients are the players that come to your tournaments. Your employees are the hosts that volunteer their time to provide that service to your clients. And the success of your business is measured by the number of people that continue to return to your room to play your tournaments.
Like any business owner, you have to analyze your products, your employees, and your customers. If you are unable to maintain the levels of players that you feel represent a successful room; if you are unable to maintain the numbers of tours required to keep your room; if you are unable to keep enough hosts to offfer the number of tours you want, then you need to reanalyze your business, and figure out why your competition is successful, and you aren't. More often than not, the answers lie inside your organization, not outside.
Personnally, I started playing in WGC under a non-team nic (Crazy_n_Vegas), then I was invited to play on a team (RiTz_CrzyNVegas). I enjoyed the fact that when I entered a room, people recognized immediately the type of player I was, and the type of players and tournaments I enjoyed participating with and in. I spent most of my time in the RiTz room, but I also wandered into other tours. Then I noticed that some of the hosts were becoming increasingly unhappy. And as a result, their tours, their players, and the other hosts began to suffer.
Finally, someone said enough. They began to put together a new room. A room based on respect for everyone equally, hosts and players alike. Hosts were allowed to run their tours without micromanagement. Players were allowed to play their tours without added stress. I joined the team (MaD_CrazyNVegas). I watched the team and the room grow faster than any room I had seen in the past.
The reason for the success of the room is not a secret. The hosts were having fun. The players were having fun. In short, MadHouse provided a superior product, in a suprerior fashion, and the clients were speaking. Welcome to the free market society.
No one is forcing players to switch rooms. No one is cheating. No one is badmouthing other rooms, slandering other hosts, or doing anything else that violates the rules of this site. At least to my knowledge.
So, now we have a new rule that BG tours must be two hours apart. I don't know the history behind this rule. I don't know the thought process behind this rule. Maybe there is a good reason for it, that the rest of us are missing. But I think it might be helpful if you tried to bring us in the loop.
I am a single player, I am not that popular here, and I don't have a huge following. But I think that I am representative of the players on this site. If this site is interested in keeping its players, in growing and continueing to provide a wonderful environmnent for players to gather, then you may start looking at who is servicing your clients properly and keeping them happy. You may want to compare them to those that are loosing players and having trouble filling their tours. You may want to find out what the difference between the rooms are.
In the meantime, I ask you not to stifle success, and let us all play.
I came from the zone a newly trained host and love my hosting group K9 to take on slots that fitted my time and disablity and family. Took on the challenge of hosting 3 tours 1 after the other with glee from the very begining when WGC 1st started. Giving my time and enery for WGC FREELY to now feel as tho l have been kicked in the teeth by WGC with this new rule. WE will LOSE players the SITE will go down hill with out the players there will be no WGC. Now l will have to think of what tour l will have to give up as l cant sit here for the length of time it will take to run 3 tours with your new rule and who will lose out of this the Players. I am so gutted and angry but what does that matter l am only a meer person who loves to host and enjoy watch players having a good time
Pls wacky think very carefully how this new rule will effect us all before p utting it in to place
i for one think its stupid setting rules of times fo tours . the only thing that should se a tour time is DOES THE ROOMS HAVE A HOST TO COVER AND IS THERE ENOUGH PLAYERS. its got nothing to do with other rooms holding the same tour at the same time - we all have rooms we wouldrather have than others and no matter what tour they hold we would never play in them - i know of 2 rooms i feel like that about. run a room with fun hosts that are well looked after and respected as these people give up ther time to do this for all of us. go in and play remembering that its a games site not real life , have a laf n chill dont let it take over. tours should be set by the number of players to go in and play i no a room that has ther tours 2 hours apart yet has to run many times with just enough people to have a tour so 2 hours apart means nothing - being a nice fun room mean alot. and remember this is a place for fun not a place to control others and get ur ego stroked
